Homemade Almond Butter!

by Marla Murphy March 26, 2014

I LOVE keeping my food as natural as possible but even organic or 'all natural’ almond butter brands found in stores are loaded with added sugars, sodium or unnatural flavors. After I made and tasted this homemade almond butter recipe I couldn't believe I have ever purchased almond butter at the store. Homemade almond butter is sooo easy to make and you know you are doing a good thing for your body because mine is just almonds!! It doesn't get any better than that!
  • 1/4 cup serving size: 205.7 calories, 17.7 grams fat, 7.7 carbs, 5 grams protein
  • 1 Tablespoon serving size: 51.4 calories, 4.4 grams of fat, 1.9 grams of carbohydrates, and 1.3 grams of protein
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup raw almonds

Instructions: 1. Add 1 cup raw almonds to food processor   2. Process until smooth, approximately 10-15 minutes. Every 3 minutes, stop and scrape the sides.
This step takes a lot of time!! At first the almonds will turn into almond 'meal' and then after 10-15 minutes the almonds will start to form the butter!  The photo on top shows the almonds half way through the process!  finished almond butter after about 12 minutes in the processor!!  P1040709P1040725 P1040738 Have you ever tried to make your own almond butter? How did it turn out?

Love,

Marla
