Homemade & Healthy Pesto Sauce

If you haven't noticed by now I have been very obsessed with creating/making my own sauces at home! Not only is this wayyy healthier than the store-bought ones but the flavor is richer and the bills are cheaper!! When you make your own sauces you can change/add/remove any flavors or ingredients that you don't care for and make your own 'secret' recipe (that is unless you write a blog and share all of your secrets anyways). I know to some people making a homemade sauce might not sound like something you want to try yourself but it is way easier than you think! Purchase ingredients, chop ingredients (if needed) add into a food processor and done! Easy prep and easy clean up!

Ways to use pesto:

Marinates

Pork chops

Salads

Shrimp

Chicken

Pasta

Homemade & Healthy Pesto Sauce
Serves 8
Prep Time

Cook Time

Ingredients
  1. 2 cups of basil, fresh and stems removed
  2. 1/2 cup of extra virgin olive oil
  3. 2 cloves of garlic
  4. 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
  5. 1/4 cup of pine nuts
  6. Sea Salt (to taste)
Instructions
  1. Divide olive oil into 1/4 cup servings, add all ingredients and one serving of the olive oil to a food processor and process well. Once well combine add in the other 1/4 cup of olive oil as needed. Pour into a jar and enjoy!
