I don’t know if there is anything better than a smoothie during summertime! I’ve said it before and I will keep saying it, Houston- as much as I love you, summer is so brutally hot!! I feel like Houstonians spend 3 months out of the year running from parking garage to garage, trying to avoid the sun at all costs so you don’t end up looking like you just ran a marathon drenched in sweat! The rest of the year is normally pretty fabulous weather so I just try to bare it until we can get to that amazing fall and ‘winter’ weather but just keep me in your prayers that I can make it until then without a heat stroke! Hot summers have me craving light and cool bites like smoothies, fresh fruit, grilled seafood and salads! Today's smoothie recipe is one my husband and I have been making either for an afternoon snack after work (we share it) or instead of eating ice cream at night we will reach for this smoothie to cool down, lord knows we have to do something!
The best thing about smoothies is they are almost impossible to mess up! Now I have had my fair share of, ‘ugh, that is NOT right’, when making smoothies but usually by adding a little bit more of an ingredient you can recover quickly! But that is what I am here for to make sure you get it right the first time so there isn’t any ingredient guessing involved!
There are so many great smoothie recipes out there but many of them can be calorie bombs! Make sure you are not adding juices like apple juice or orange juice to your smoothies! I either make mine with almond milk, coconut water, coconut milk or water! Whats your favorite smoothie combo?
