I hope you have found my past restaurant reviews helpful and have even gone to the restaurants and tried the healthy suggestions! My goals for doing a restaurant review is to provide you with healthy food and drink recommendations when going to these restaurants (that way you know what you are ordering is the right choice), educate you on how to order healthy when eating out and also encourage you to be adventurous and try new restaurants. Sometimes eating out can be a bit challenging since you might not know if the food you ordered was a healthy choice. i have been to restaurants and have ordered what seems to be a healthy choice, but when it arrives on the table, it’s covered in a creamy sauce or loaded with butter and salt. I am here to help you make the best choice and avoid these types of situations. This week’s restaurant review is Dish Society. This is a farm to table restaurant which means the food on the table came directly from a local farm. If the food is coming from a nearby farm, the idea is it will be fresher, in season and healthier since it won’t have to be sprayed with a bunch of chemicals to prevent it from going bad. Think about it….if your food is coming from a very long distance, who knows what they are doing to it to keep it fresh! I was so impressed with this restaurant….cute atmosphere, casual, great menu with tons of healthy choices. Here’s what my friend Sonny and I ordered: Appetizer: Strawberry Bruschetta: small toasted bread topped with fresh strawberries, goat cheese, olive oil and seasoning. Review: it was AMAZING, but had a little too much goat cheese, so we had to scrape some of it off and we spilt this together! Marla’s Entrée: Grilled Chicken Salad: cage free grilled chicken, mixed green, all sorts of vegetables and a champagne vinaigrette dressing. Review: sounds boring but tasted incredible! I removed the homemade croutons to save some unnecessary calories. This dish is very light, filling and the champagne vinaigrette dressing was perfect! Sonny’s Entrée: Kale and Cucumber Salad with Grilled Chicken: Kale, cucumbers, radish, dries cherries, red onion, cage free grilled chicken and citrus vinaigrette dressing. Review: Perfection! If you’re not in the mood for a salad, they have a ton of other healthy choices such as the salmon, gulf red fish and a few different chicken dishes that sound amazing. If you don’t live in the Houston area, I recommend looking up some farm to table restaurants in your area and giving them a try. You won’t be disappointed! If there is a restaurant that you would like me to review, let me know!
