Strawberry Cream Smoothie! July 03 2015, 0 Comments
During the summertime in Houston the only way to beat the heat is with a smoothie! I could live off of smoothies because they are easy/quick, healthy and you can make so many different flavors! Lately, I have been all about the quick/easy/healthy! We are still in the process of getting moved into our new place and still living out of boxes (ekk)! The clean/control freak in me is ready to have a melt down with Ryan starting residency and I am busy working but I just have to remind myself that we actually have our own place and I am soooo grateful! So I just choose to walk past the un-opened boxes and let it go (thanks for the tip Elsa)! My goal was to tackle one room a day and for the most part the office, kitchen, living room and master bedroom are all unpacked, they are just ugly at the moment lol and the décor boxes are endless!! How do we have this much stuff, everyone has the same thoughts when moving but for real… when did we get so much stuff?! I blame it all on the wedding registry but how can you resist?!? #EndRant Okay now on to the important stuff, the stuff we all love: smoothies (!!) and not just any smoothie but a healthy and delicious one with unexpected ingredients! Thanks to Almond Breeze I was able to play around and develop this strawberry cream smoothie!!
- 1.5 cups of Almond Milk (Almond Breeze- Original)
- 2 cups of strawberries, frozen
- 1/2 cup of cashews, raw
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- 1 cup of ice (more if desired)
- Add all ingredients into a high power blender or food processor and process until the nuts have fully disappeared (about 5 minutes for me)! Pour into 2 glasses and serve!
- 1-2 tablespoons of chia seeds or flaxseeds!
I used my food processor since processing nuts is a heavy duty job but if you have one of those fancy blenders that can get the job done then by all means, use that!! I just haven't invested in a super nice blender since I have this bad boy that Ryan got me for my last birthday! This recipe makes two whole glasses which is perfect to share with a roommate or a significant other but I prefer to drink one and freeze one for the next day :) Love the original almond milk flavor and the great thing about this package is the expiration date isn't until 2016 so if you don't make a lot of smoothies or use a lot of almond milk this product would be perfect for keeping fresh for quite some time! Who can resist a strawberry cream smoothie?! What did you think about using the cashews in the smoothie? Have you ever tried nuts in a smoothie before? I would love to hear from you! Now I am off to get this Holiday weekend started with a few clients and highlights gonna keep this pantry blonde)! Hope you have an amazing 4th of July!
